The next sign is being very defensive when the subject of your addiction is brought up and you try to defend yourself. You say that, If other people don’t understand then it their problem, I can stop anytime I want to, or It’s not a problem for me. Then there come the blaming others for your behaviors that keep the from taking the blame for anything. Then comes all the secrets and lies that are told. The addict really thinks that their addiction is a secret and they are the only one that knows. The people around the addict notices that they are abusing drugs, gambling all their money away, eating way too much, shopping, purging and drinking too much.
